How to download and install software
- When you’re on the home page of Brisnet click on “Free software” in the top left hand corner
- PP Generator should be the first one in the list. When you click it, the next page will have some more information but you’re looking for the link “Download Custom PP Generator(tm)- full install v2.40 35.55MB.” (It’s the first one of the 3 links; make sure you’re clicking on the one that has the biggest file size and not the upgrade version)
- When you click the link, depending on your browser depends on it will download to the computer.
- Now that you have downloaded the file to the computer, you will need to run it in order for it to set it up on the computer. You can open the download folder or click the message from your browser to run this file.
- The setup wizard for the software will open and you will have to click through next until it installs and finishes setting it up on the computer.
- If successful, the software will be installed on the computer and by default it should put an icon on their desktop and add an entry to all programs.
How to download software files
PP generator accepts the “PP Data File (single)” on the website.
- When you’re on brisnet.com in the top left hand corner, choose on the option for “Selections programs and PPs.” Scroll down until you see “PP Data File (Single)”
- When you chose this type of file you’re going to get a list of tracks and dates. Choose the file you need.
- Depending on your browser depends on how it will download the file to the computer. The folder you need to save these files to by default is the BRISCUST folder on the C: drive.
How to process files/verify they are not corrupt:
Now that you have saved the file to your computer, now it’s time to open it.
- Open PP Generator
- By default, it will load the last file you had open. When loading a new file, click file in the top left hand corner of the screen and go to “Load File”
- From here, navigate through the user’s computer until you find the location of the saved files.
- Choose the file you want to load
- If the file you downloaded loads in PP gen and you can see the past performance for all races the data file is not corrupt.
Tips:
- As stated above, PP Generator will load the last file you told it to when you open the software. If you’ve loaded a corrupted file then you’re going to get an error message when opening and you will not be able to close out of the box. In order to get this to close properly you will need to open task manager and under the processes tab end “custompp.exe” that will close the error and the software without restarting the computer. To correct this issue, you have to find the file that was loaded on the machine and remove it in order for it to stop opening on start up.
- PP generator is based on styles. The user can create a custom “style” and specify the information that he wants to display on his PP. If someone is saying that there is missing information on the PP or that there’s something wrong with the way it looks walk them through the default style to see if it’s a problem with a setting they’ve changed.
- Technically, you can save these files anywhere. As long as when you go to load the file you know the location of where it’s saved you can open it. Some customers create a separate folder for their files and some people use the default BRISCUST folder.
- PP Generator is not compatible with a 64-bit operating system. There are workarounds for this issue, but as a general rule of thumb, the software will not complete installation on 64-bit.
- Sometimes, Los Alamitos files will display as La Rochelle in PP Generator and some information from the PP will be missing. For the workaround for this issue, see Product Support.
