Ecommerce on Oaklawn Anywhere, found under the Handicapping section, allows players to purchase past performance products without needing a BRIS account. Players can download free products with a bet or purchase using a credit card. Products downloaded after the card date incur charges. Players are assigned ecommerce statuses—Preferred, Trusted, Probation, or Pay Upfront—dictating download and purchase rules. Preferred players, including Elite and VIPs, receive discounts or free products. Trusted players promise to pay from their wagering account. Probation status requires upfront payment if prior promises aren't met, while Pay Upfront status mandates payment unless products are entirely free. Refunds are processed for valid situations, but not if a bet is canceled. Purchase history can be accessed under "Account Mgmt" for transaction details.
Ecommerce is the product purchase platform on Oaklawn Anywhere and is found under the Handicapping section of the site. ADW players do not need to sign up for a BRIS account to purchase / download past performance products.
Players can download a Free with Bet product from the Oaklawn Anywhere website, or purchase a product using their credit card through the Handicapping tab if it is not Free with Bet. Note: Condensed Harness PP’s are NOT Free with Bet.
Products downloaded after the date of the card will be subject to a charge, and are no longer Free with Bet, regardless if you have wagered or not.
Ecommerce allows purchase of past performance products using:
- a credit card.
Ecommerce Statuses for Players
Players will be assigned one of the four ecommerce statuses designated below.
Status Description Free if you bet products Paid products
Preferred Free for Preferred View Add to Cart / View
Trusted Free with Bet Free with Bet / View Add to Cart / View
Probation Refund with Bet Refund with Bet / View Add to Cart / View
Pay Upfront Refund with Bet Refund with Bet / View Add to Cart / View
A player’s ecommerce status dictates how they download / purchase handicapping products. All players will start as either a Preferred or Trusted status.
Preferred status is reserved for Elite, Platinum, Gold, and Rebated VIPs. Any product that is free to a Preferred player has a green icon.
- Elite players get ALL products for free. (Elite is not a VIP level; it is a term used to designate a small group of VIPs get ALL products for free).
- Rebated, Platinum and Gold players get Free with Bet products for free (even if they do not wager).
- Rebated, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze players receive a 20% discount for all products they have to pay for, including Free with Bet products. (Remember that players may still have to pay for Free with Bet products if they download enough of them.)
This does not apply to Oaklawn Anywhere players
Trusted status is reserved for players who either pay for their products with a credit card or who “Promise” to pay with funds from their wagering account when asked.
- Example: On Tuesday, you download Ultimate PPs for Aqueduct for Tuesday’s races. You choose not to pay for the PPs with a credit card. Then, you do not wager on Aqueduct.
- Tomorrow, your wagering account will be charged $3.00. If the $3.00 is in your wagering account, you maintain your Trusted status. If the funds aren’t in your wagering account, you will be played on Probation status.
- This means that the next time you wish to download a product you must make payment before downloading - either with a credit card or by using funds from your wagering account.
- If the product is normally offered as “Free – with – Bet” – if you then wager on the track, your account will be refunded the purchase price.
- (Important Note: No further attempt to collect the cost of that product is made).
Probation status means that you downloaded a “Free – with – Bet” product but you did not wager on the track for the day you downloaded the product for and you did not have funds to cover the cost of the product in your wagering account.
- The next time you download “Free – with – Bet” products, you must pay for them upfront using funds from your wagering account.
- Once paying for your “Free – with – Bet” product(s), if you wager on the track for the day you purchased the products for, the next day you'll be refunded in full and your status will be changed back to Trusted. (Products are usually refunded around 7:30am EDT the next day).
- In this way, players can toggle between Trusted and Probation status based on their behavior with regards to promises made on the previous day to wager on “Free – with – Bet” products.
Pay Upfront status designates that you are always required to pay for a product unless it is completely free with no wagering requirement (instant results / charts are always free with no betting requirement).
- If you consistently do not meet your Promises to bet for “free-with-bet” products, you will be permanently designated a Pay Upfront player.
Employees will have access to all products regardless of cost.
Billing Considerations
Credit Requests
Incidents for Credit Requests should be handled using the Zendesk workflow.
The Ecommerce system currently does refund a player for purchases made using funds in their wagering account when some valid refund situation occurs. Examples are:
- The player downloads a tip sheet for $10. Funds are deducted from the wagering account. The track cancels before the first race.
- The player purchases a PP product for today but the track cancels before the first race.
The ecommerce system currently does NOT refund a player if:
- The player downloads a PP that is free if the player wagers. The player wagers but his horse scratches so his bet is not made. This is not his fault but he is still charged for the PP.
- This situation is slightly different than if the player downloads a PP, places a wager but then cancels the wager. In this case, he owes for the product and will also be charged.
Other Billing Considerations
If a player chooses to pay using funds from the wagering account, the funds are generally collected the next day. (This way if the product is free when a player wagers, the player does not get charged today).
If the player chooses to pay using a credit card, the card is charged at the time of purchase. Example:
The player downloads a PP on Monday for a track that is running on Tuesday. His card is charged on Monday. If the track does not run on Tuesday, there is NO REFUND to the credit card.
If a player does have a Brisnet account and also has a special plan (Gold plan, handicapping software file discount plan, large volume purchase discount, etc.) we should advise them to download their products from the Brisnet website so that their discount plan continues to be honored – they may also need to speak with a Bris Level 2 Agent to make sure this specific plan is still active for them.
E-com Purchase History
This report shows a player’s purchase history – what they have downloaded and have or have not paid for. You can access the E-Com Purchase History in V2 under the "Account Mgmt" tab. Set the desired date range and click "Filter" to see the results.
If the player purchased the product with a credit card, you will be able to see whether the card was a MasterCard or Visa as well as the last four digits of the card in the gray box.
If the player was charged with funds from their wagering account, you can find that charge in the All Funding Report as a negative adjustment.
